Over the course of my internship this summer I worked very closely with my manager Leonie. We both worked remotely from our homes, so we communicated each day over video calls. Leonie and I had a great process I started each day at 9am and we always started with a morning call sometime between 9 and 10am. This call allowed us to go over everything for the day, including what she had on her schedule, what she needed from me what was an immediate priority and what the upcoming few days would look like. We also would call throughout the day depending on what we were working on and how close together we had to work.

A big part of my internship as Social Media Coordinator was setting up social media pages for the different lines we carried. Creating them, getting them up and running, laying them out the way we thought looked best, posting and creating ads for some. The start to these processes required Leonie and I to work quite closely, we would have hour long calls running through what needed to be done and setup for each account. I set up a series of different Pinterest pages for some of our different lines. Although I was the one creating Leonie and I worked very closely to get the right look we wanted for each page. Sometimes we had lots of creative power and other times we had to stick to the Company’s original theme, making our page look cohesive but also our own. Below is an example of one account we set up. I created the board covers and both Leonie and I pinned regularly to build our engagement and impressions.

When Leonie and I needed more specific often with Facebook and Instagram, we worked with a lady named Sue via Zoom calls. Sue having lots of knowledge and experience with those platforms was able to give us ‘tutorial’ like lessons on getting our pages up and running, setting up shops, creating ads as well as scheduling posts, and teaching us how to use Facebook Business Suite and Business Manager. Each call with Sue I felt as though I had learned more and built upon my previous knowledge, which helped as I was doing things on my own.

I really enjoyed working together through video calls, because Leonie and I communicated so frequently it was easy to get things handled right away as opposed to having to wait until we were free, it was a method we found worked for use allowed us to get things taken care of quickly. I also found because we spoke so frequently I learned so much as Leonie naturally explained to me the process and why we do certain things, and the best ways to do something.
