Listening to Blair talk was really interesting and cool to hear from another Western alum. It was even more exciting that we had the same undergrad, MIT. I also found her to be a great speaker as we listened to her talk about her career path through digital marketing. She seemed very professional but also approachable which I thought was great.
Blair originally worked for a company called Corner Stone, her job there focusing on digital marketing and data. After learning more about digital marketing she decided to change jobs. She then moved to KBS Agency, very traditional digital print ad agency. Blair said at this job she realized she liked strategy but preferred when it worked with numbers. Her current position is at Valtech as the Director of Marketing Science. Blair was able to take all her experience and use it as she progressed through her career journey. She learned a lot from each role and was able to determine what areas (right now) she wants to be in.

I really enjoyed Blair talking on her journey. It made me hopeful for mine. I really liked hearing her talk about her current job however I don't think that area of work really screams my name. Her job focuses more on number and data etc. and I am hoping to work on the more creative side of things.
I didn't get to ask Blair my question I believe another girl in the class who also went to Western asked. I wanted to know "What she took away from MIT as a program and how that helped her with her career. Although she didn't respond directly to me I recall her response being overall positive, and agreeing that MIT was a great program to start in. However, you also learn so much while physically working. So stay open minded! I also her remember her shouting out a well known professor in the faculty.
I really enjoyed hearing from Blair this week. As I already said I think she seemed really well put together and obviously quite smart. It was nice to hear from someone younger who is just starting their career journey.
